Activities here focus on the development of green and sustainable bioprocesses and hybrid processes for production of industrially important chemicals, materials and fuels. Agro-residues and waste biomass; and organic industrial wastes (eg. waste oils, glycerol) are valorised through microbial and/or enzymatic route to chemical and materials of industrial importance. Some of the products in focus are industrial diols, 2,5-furandicarboxylic acids, biopolymers, organic acids, amino acids and sugar alcohols.
