CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST), one of the laboratories of CSIR has implemented the “Integrated Skill Initiative” program by offering various skill development and up-skilling courses for undergraduates, postgraduates and to the unemployed youth. The skill program also benefits the workers and staff members of the industries.

The major impact of the program is to bridge the gap between the industries and academia and towards entrepreneurship. The Skill Development Program will provide efficient training, analytical skills, communication skills, personality development, team building and operation of high-end equipment.

CSIR NIIST is offering several short term and long term skill development courses for graduates, diploma holders, people from industries in various disciplines of Science and Engineering. Basic Knowledge generation, hands on experience in operation and maintenance of sophisticated equipment are the highlights of the course.

  • To utilize CSIR knowledgebase and infrastructure for contributing national skill mission

  • To implement special up-skilling / training programs for social benefits

  • To implement identified skill/training programmes of national skill mission

CSIR NIIST offers a number of skill development and skill upgradation courses to the graduates and post graduates un-employed youth in addition to the staff of industries, workers, innovators etc. The main aim of these courses is to create a high-quality skilled workforce in the S&T sector through training in diverse areas.

CSIR-NIIST has implemented different courses in diverse areas of agro processing, microbial processes, chemical sciences, environmental and materials science sectors. The aim of these skill development courses is to expose students to career options and also to enhance their chances of employability.

We have around 80 scientists and 20 technical officers to cater to the needs of the training program. We also have sophisticated equipment like SEM, TEM, HRD, XPS, IR, GPC, DSC, TGA, NMR, Ram Spectroscopy, Mass Spectroscopy etc. Experts from the above mentioned fields will be training the students with sophisticated equipment and hands-on sessions as per course curriculum.

The courses have been framed in small batch size for effective training, to understand basic principles, lectures assisted with multimedia aids, interactive session and demonstrations of working of state-of-the-art equipment.

The skill initiative of CSIR-NIIST is an excellent program for the graduates, post-graduates, students, faculties, scientists, inventors, teachers etc. We also try to make an impact of ‘Skill India’ Mission of Government of India.

The idea is to raise confidence, improve productivity and give direction through proper skill development. Education, skills development and lifelong learning are the central pillars for employment of workers.

It also improves their employability conditions and their standard of living and contribute to job security and business development thereby to have a sustainable economic growth, job creation, and social development.

The main focus is to train youths in such a way that they receive employment and to improve entrepreneurship. The training programs are designed in a way that the students can not only meet the domestic needs but also to the international needs.

The course work includes theory and practical classes, group discussions, brainstorming sessions, practical experiences, and case studies. Equal priority to theory classes and practical sessions.
